Joavan and Bill's alarm clock rang. As planned by the two, Joavan got out of his bed to start his day. He was happy to see that sunlight was shining through his window. But then again, he was an optimist. He was almost always happy. He had jet black fur and long, pointed ears. He had a very muscular, toned build and a long, strong, fluffed pointed tail. But the oddest thing about him was claws and teeth. His teeth were infamously strong and sharp and his claws were large and never dulled. He grabbed his usual outfit (his purple shirt with a black collar, his gray jeans, his purple leather belt with silver buckle) and started for the bathroom.

Today was Joavan's eighteenth birthday. In a month, Joavan and Bill would decide to leave the orphanage and start they're separate lives as the young adults they've become. After showering, brushing his teeth, and getting dressed Joavan let Bill have his turn he put on his shoes and jacket. Joavan reached to get the black and golden basket from the shelf of his bedroom closet and opened it to retrieve the chain the nannies told him he had had since his was a newborn puppy. Joavan and Bill always wondered what it was or what it meant. Everyone who knew about the items expected it was left with Joavan by his parents.

Bill was the only one Joavan told about the basket and was also eighteen. They were roomates and had been best buddies since they met, treating each other like brothers. As far as they were concerned, they were brothers. Bill looked like a normal golden retriever would with folded ears a scruffy tail and scruffy, yellow fur. Like Joavan, he also had a muscular build. He wore light blue denim jeans and a white t-shirt with a normal, black belt. Once he came out of the bathroom, he put his light blue jacket on along with his shoes and his light blue baseball cap.
